When the Cards Choose You
Every month, when it’s time to prepare our Arcana envelopes, something quietly magical happens. It’s the moment when Jess and I start drawing the cards - one for each member - and for me, it’s the most special part of the entire process.
We don’t use a system or a spreadsheet or a random generator. We do it the old-fashioned way: by hand, one at a time.
When we sit down to start, the full deck is laid out. All the cards we’ve created together, each one holding its own energy and story. We shuffle, take a deep breath, and then look at the next customer’s name on our list. And in that moment, I let intuition do the rest.
Sometimes a card seems to jump out of the deck.
Sometimes I just know which one to pull.
But every single card is drawn intentionally and chosen for that specific person in that specific moment.
Once I’ve drawn the card, I set it aside, make note of it, and then return it to the deck before moving on to the next name. Then we shuffle again and start fresh. It’s a simple process, but it feels sacred, like a small act of connection that keeps this whole experience human and heartfelt.
There’s something special about knowing that your card was picked by hand, not just packed by machine. We want every envelope to feel like a little letter from the universe, but one that passed through real hands - ours - before finding its way to yours.
Sometimes I’ll wonder why a certain card calls to me for a person I’ve never met. But that’s part of the beauty of it, trusting that the right card always finds the right person.
When you open your Arcana envelope, we hope you can feel that quiet moment of intention that started it all.
Because yes, it’s just paper and ink but it’s also a whisper from our hearts to yours, sent through the shuffle, the draw, and a little bit of magic. ✨
